What's The Scoop Wednesday

Bubbling Brook, Westwood, MA

After picking up Little Man from baseball camp Monday afternoon, we took a ride to Bubbling Brook in Westwood. He was quite excited to go for a cool treat!

Bubbling Brook Restaurant has been around since 1951. It is a full-service restaurant and ice cream stand. We were just visiting for the ice cream, but may need to return for dinner and ice cream!

Bubbling Brook has two separate ice cream windows, one for soft serve and one for hard serve. We noticed that the soft serve was quite popular among patrons.

Even with all of the fun hard ice cream flavors, Little Man and Little Miss couldn't resist trying the soft serve. Little Man went with the classic chocolate/vanilla twist cone and Little Miss tried the Creamsicle (orange/vanilla twist) cone. After taking my obligatory taste, I must say that the Creamsicle combo was incredibly refreshing and while at first I poo-pooed the soft serve thinking that I could have just taken them to Dairy Queen, it earned my respect in the end.

I went to the hard serve window and picked up a small dish of mint chocolate chip yogurt. It had enough huge chocolate chunks to remind me that even though I was eating yogurt, it definitely was a treat!

We enjoyed our treats at the picnic tables behind the restaurant and then decided to take a look at the "bubbling brook".

No cows here, but "the brook" proved to be worth the trip!

Take me out to the ball game...

Yesterday Mr. PS and I spent a wonderful day in Boston. We started off with brunch at this South End eatery and then made our way to Fenway for the Red Sox game. Here's a little taste of Fenway if you've never been...

700 posts, how crazy is that? Clearly I need to find some other hobbies! I must say that I really enjoy blogging, I've connected with so many people with similar interests and have been fortunate to meet some of you in person. So here's #700...

TGIF! Dear friend K and I took the kids to the beach today in Bourne. After a few days of rain and cloudy skies, it was gorgeous here. We arrived home a bit ago and everyone has showered and changed into apres-beach clothes, I'm about to fire up the grill and make a cocktail.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend with sunny skies. We're off to a birthday party tomorrow and then the kids are doing their first sleepover at their auntie and uncle's house. The kids got new L.L. Bean sleeping bags for the occasion and have been playing "camp" all week! Mr. PS and I are off to the Red Sox game on Sunday while Little Man and Little Miss attend the PawSox game with my BIL and SIL...good times!

What's The Scoop Wednesday

Gray's Ice Cream, Tiverton, RI

After a recent beach day in nearby Little Compton, RI we decided to stop at Gray's Ice Cream in Tiverton. This was not our first trip to Gray's, we've been a few times before and we're always happy to return.

Gray's has been around since 1923 when Annie Gray started selling ice cream out of her home. Annie is long gone and the business has been sold a couple of times, but Gray's remains in its original location and still makes their own ice cream.

Gray's flavor board...

Mr. PS joined us for this ice cream adventure, he went with Coffee Oreo Cookie (a special).

Little Man went with his favorite, Oreo Cookie.

Little Miss tried Cherry Vanilla. She allowed me two tastes and it was quite delicious!

I ordered Black Raspberry frozen yogurt with chocolate jimmies (sprinkles). I usually opt for the fro-yo and black raspberry is my favorite! We all went with a small dish/cone which was a good sized scoop and a half.

There are benches to sit and enjoy your ice cream, they face a small pasture with two cows. One was extremely photogenic!

Should you find yourself at Tiverton Four Corners, be sure to stop into the Provender across the street from Gray's. They make fantastic sandwiches and goodies!

That concludes this week's scoop. We're looking forward to our next ice cream destination! Thanks for the suggestions and yes, they're on the list!

Tuesday Ramblings

Good morning and happy Tuesday! Last Tuesday I was hanging out waiting for the gas company to inspect our heating system, today I'm waiting for a new dryer to be delivered! Friday evening I realized that the timer was no longer working, nor was the dryer heating up...it was basically air fluffing my wet clothes for extended periods of time. So after nine years of service, may it rest in peace!

We're hoping to go blueberry picking later today if the weather holds. With all of the rain we had at the end of June, we gave up on the hopes of picking strawberries. If not, we'll hang out here and bake these cookies.

Thank you for all of the nice comments on "What's The Scoop Wednesday", tomorrow's edition is in the works. Mr. PS joined us for this one, I think he was a bit disappointed that he missed out on our first ice cream adventure.
